| LogMeIn Gives PC Access to Palm Foleo Users
Thanks to LogMeIn support for the Palm Foleo mobile companion, users can now have access to their remote PCs on the move, giving them remote desktop control, data backup and file sharing. Foleo users can as a result securely access files and network resources on their home or work computers when away. Palm announced its Foleo mobile companion on May 30. It is designed to be an assistant to smart phones, similar to lugging around a laptop but a little lighter than many models and crucially, with instant on/off capability, a five-hour battery life and optimized synching with smartphone-based email. The Foleo displays email sent to a smart phone with the press of a button, but has a full-size keyboard to make handling emails and other documents easier. There are two versions of LogMeIn available, Free and Pro.
GM Signs Battery Pact, Says it Could Lead Electric Car Race
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — General Motors Corp. has signed an agreement with a battery maker that could propel it ahead of Toyota Motor Corp. in the race to bring plug-in hybrid and electric cars to market, a top company official said Thursday.A123 Systems Inc., based in Watertown, Mass., already produces millions of nanophosphate lithium-ion batteries for use in cordless power tools, and it plans to apply the technology to automobiles.GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said the deal, coupled with a published report that Toyota Motor Corp. would delay launches of lithium-ion battery powered hybrids for up to two years, could give GM the lead in bringing the new clean technology to market."I think that our No. 1 competitor has some problems with their technology, and I do think that it very definitely opens a window of opportunity for us to be first to market with a genuine plug-in hybrid," Lutz said at an automotive industry conference in Traverse City where the battery deal was announced. The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with Toyota strategy that it didn't name, reported Thursday that problems with lithium-ion technology forced Toyota to back away from plans to roll out the vehicles between 2008 and 2010.Toyota spokesman John McCandless said the company does not comment on its product plans, but he disagreed that the developments give GM an edge."No one can leap ahead of anybody until the products get to market," McCandless said.Lutz said the lithium-ion battery being discussed by GM is safer and manages heat better than the technology Toyota was using. He also hopes to be first to market with a pure electric vehicle that has a piston engine as an emergency backup, similar to the Chevrolet Volt prototype that the company unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.A123 expects to have the batteries, which would be flat and similar in appearance but larger than those that power cell phones, ready for GM to test in vehicles by October.
Tablets notable, but not for all
Tablet PCs have always been something of a mystery to me. Until a few weeks ago, I'd never known anyone who used one, and I'd never tried one myself. Since their debut in 2002, the sleek laptops with screens you can write on have grown popular with insurance companies, hospitals, warehouses and other businesses where employees need to fill out forms and jot down notes. But they haven't lived up to Bill Gates' 2001 prediction that tablets would be the best-selling PC in America within five years. Prices have come down and more companies are producing them. Some are now aimed at consumers. With that in mind, I tested three new models from Lenovo, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard. I wanted to see if any of these tablet PCs could be used as an all-purpose computer.
Subject: Moultrie DGW-100 1.3 Mega Pixel Review
This is a review that I did about the Moultrie camera that I purchased back in 2006. I had this posted on another site and thought I would bring it over here and share with those considering the Moultrie brand cameras. Of course now they have upgraded to a 4.0 mega pixel, but there are still some 2.1 and 3.1 mega pixels out there being sold. The 1.3 mega pixel was replaced the later half of 2006 with the 2.1. This posting also shows a box that a friend made for me for security purposes, not just from a thief but also from MR. BLACK BEAR!! As most of you know I give a thumbs up to the Moultrie digital camera that Wal-Mart sells for $98. I purchased one back in the spring and have been wanting to get it out for some time now. I ran it through a test in the back yard aimed at the dogs. Got several pictures from it and was pretty satisfied. Yea I know, it isn't a Cuddeback or Wildeye (not sure of the brand), but for a man on a budget the Moultrie will do the job for me. I fell in love with the Moultrie last year after seeing the one my brother in law bought.

Review: Neovo Fotoview V-10 digital photo frame
Despite reasonable looks, the exterior of Neovo's Fotoview V-10 digital photo frame feels a tad cheap. Interestingly, there appear to be no controls or inputs, other than power, however, on further inspection a top-mounted cover flips up to reveal a multi-card reader and mini-USB port. Turn the unit on, and the controls light up around the bezel. These are touch operated and fade out after a few seconds. This works well, and gives the impression you're looking at a real photo frame rather than a fancy piece of technology. The controls are also very responsive, which puts our mind at rest after a recent experience with a similar layout in the Linx Ality range. Neovo's success in the LCD market certainly shows - the 800x480 resolution screen is superbly sharp and does a great job of showing off your snaps.
Yet another Toshiba battery recall
Toshiba has been forced to issue yet another battery recall due to safety fears, its fourth in barely a year. The recall, issued through the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, recalls some of Toshiba's Satellite A100, Satellite A105 and Tecra A7 ranges that are powered by batteries manufactured by Sony. Some 1,400 laptops are thought to be affected. "Over a relatively short period, certain incidents occurred where certain battery packs installed in Toshiba portable computers caught fire," said the company in a statement. "Based on its investigation, Sony Corporation, supplier of the subject batteries, concluded that certain battery cells manufactured in a specific manufacturing lot could be affected by a certain issue that could potentially lead to a safety issue." It's been a bad year for Toshiba and other laptop manufacturers that use batteries manufactured by Sony.
